Paris Fashion Week | Vaquera AW26
“Hold on Tightly, Let Go Lightly”Hair by Clare Grech
This AW season Claire Grech pushed the Vaquera looks even further than usual, by creating several different characters, all of which were linked by the common thread of matte, voluminous texture.
The themes that guided the show were focusing on looking forward to your future self, and what you imagine that very self to look like. Another huge inspiration was taken from the 60's and the futuristic design aesthetic that was so popular in that era.
The looks were created by using a generous amount of the Mr. Smith Volumising Spray and Sea Salt Spray (on damp hair), and rough drying them in with a flat brush. A natural centre parting was established in the hair, then horizontal 3cm sections were lightly back combed and, section by section, sprayed with High Hold Hairspray and lightly taped with a crimper.Once each section to cooled down, it was then then brushed out using a flat dressing brush (Mason Pearson) and sprayed with Dry Texture Spray throughout.
Once this beautiful texture was established, a couple of different directions were taken. Some of the models expressed a more futuristic look, which used a sprayed down fringe (using their natural hair) and a Hairspray, or had showcased a "stuck on" contrasting micro fringe pieces, and side pieces. Others were twisted into a double French roll with height at the top and a strong square shape to appear more masculine and even more 60s. Textured sideburns were added to some of the up do's as well.
